The one where chaos sets in….

We are T minus 34 hours away from hoping in the car for the 27 hour ride to FL for spring training….and while it is a fun time for our family- packing for a long trip can be tough!! I think I literally did not sit down all day today (except to eat amazing sushi at Crave with the hubby) between the packing and cleaning. I HATE to come home to a messy house- I have to leave it spotless- even if I am just gone for a weekend! It is a curse! This is a going to be a short post because I have to get back to charging my kiddos ipods and adding games and shows that they haven’t seen yet so they don’t make us want to pull our hair out on the drive down… seriously how did our parents survive without ipods?!

As if today was not crazy enough it was also my long run day…. 12 miles… and after finishing season 7 of entourage – I am now 3 episodes into Modern Family…. HILARIOUS! If you haven’t watched it- you need too!! This is my last DVD series so I am going to need some recommendations on what show to start after this one finishes….come on people….

Next time I blog- I will be some where other than MN…. hopefully with all my hair intact….

Song: “Raise your glass”- Pink

Distance: 12 miles- 1hr 33mins

Quote: “It is not who you are that holds you back…. it is who you think you’re not”

The one with the shiny medals…

Our weekend flew by and before I knew it- I hadn’t even blogged… sorry blog friends :) We started Saturday with the TC kids marathon at the U of M field house. I think it is important for my kids to see that running and staying healthy is important to me and I want them to do it and feel that sense of accomplishment as well. We got there and found out that they would be running a half mile- which neither has run before…. and the kicker was that they would have to do it without parents…. all we could do was cheerlead from the sidelines. So needless to say I was a little nervous about how this was going to go… not to mention there was like 50 or so kids in their heat. So on your marks… get set…. go…. and they are off…. after about 7 kids fall (thankfully not mine)….

Lyla made it about 2 of the 4 laps that were required to complete the half mile… then she quit… Addie on the other hand was AWESOME- she ran the entire time!!! And after she got her medal at the end she turned to me and said ” Mom- can I start doing runs with you…” …. seriously melt my heart!!! I think she might of been enjoying her running high :) Needless to say- it made my day.

After we got home it was my turn to run- my long run…

3 miles at 7.5 MPH

2 miles at 8.0MPH

1 mile at 7.5 MPH

2 miles at 8.0 MPH

3 miles at 7.7 MPH

Yep… thats 11 miles and I conquered it in 85 minutes and 4 episodes of entourage. :) Not too bad! Then late that evening I did Yoga with a friend for the third time that week- weirdly enough I think I might be addicted…. I am going to do it again tonight…. yes you heard right- I think I might be a yogi :)

I have not run yet today but I have to run 6 miles with 5 strides (running all out for about 100m)…. but as we speak my mouthguard is cooling off from being fitted… so I will be rocking the mouthguard on my run later…. watch out world!

Song of the run: “What the hell”- Avril Lavigne

Distance : 11 miles- 85 minutes, and today 6 miles- hopefully 46 minutes

Quote: “If people are trying to bring you down- it only means you are above them”

*****UPDATE: Got to run my 6 miles in 46  minutes outside today…. 43 degrees in Feb. in MN… amazing…. …… eating chipotle before a 6 mile run…. not amazing! :(

The one with the bar fight….

Ok – there was really no bar fight but I am battling TMJ and in my efforts to try to fix it I went to the chiropractor where she adjusted my jaw with an activator…. needless to say- I feel like I took a right hook and then a left hook to the jaw…. lets hope after all the pain subsides that it helps. I also visited the accupuncturist and she worked on my jaw too… so after a day of eastern medicine… heres hoping!

In other news I tried my yoga sculpt #1 dvd the other night and it went well. It was good- I sweated a little which helps me to feel like I accomplished something but we will see if it helps my muscles… I am going to give it a shot again tonight… my husband reminded me that I said I would give it a full out chance… I am trying to keep up my end of the bargain!

Song of the run: ” We found love” -Rihanna

Distance: 4 miles- 31 minutes

Quote of the day: “If you don’t believe in miracles… perhaps you have forgotten that you are one…”

P.S. little tip- sometimes I have a hard time shutting my mind off at night… so for the last 4 nights I have been drinking like 4 oz of tart cherry juice before bed and have been sleeping like a log- try it, Cherries are one of the few known food sources of melatonin, a potent antioxidant produced naturally by the body’s pineal gland that helps regulate biorhythm and natural sleep patterns.
