I know this blog is about running but with all the crap that I have been dealing with it has been hard to run…. and therefore all the stuff that I am about to write it about running… or my ability to run…
Where to start…. I started seeing a NUCCA chiropractor this week on a recommendation from a friend and at my initial visit he figured out that my C1 vertebrea or my “atlas” is quite messed up and therefore my hip shifts back and makes me right leg shorter and also affects the path of my brainstem to the rest of the body…. which could explain the headaches and sinus problems because the nerves are not functioning like they should. I am baring 10 pounds more weight on my right side because of it and that would explain a lot of the low back pain I get when I run. It is crazy how much the body works in tandem. Anyways- he took a bunch of tests and CT’s and adjusted just the base of my neck today. I go in again wednesday to do it again and he says it take about a month to notice a change… I am optimistic!
Then… I got the results back from my thyroid and food sensitivity tests…. first- the good news- thyroid is fine- so no worries there. The bad news- I was off the charts in sensitivity to all dairy products including whey and casein. That means absolutely no dairy for me and i have to read labels closer from now on to make sure there is no whey in it! It is going to be hard but I have done it before and was actually telling Glen just the other day that was when I felt my best- when I cut dairy… makes sense now….
I went back to the ENT on wednesday- am on antibiotic number three and no relief…. still have whatever I have had since before my bday! She scoped my nose and the weirdest part is that i have no drainage and no congestion…. she took another CT to make sure that she is not missing any scar tissue or something else from the surgery that could be causing these symptoms…. but if it is all clear- which she believes it will be- then she believes that I may actually have a migraine variant that it mimicking the symptoms of a sinus infection…. so she is sending me to a neurologist…. lets hope he/she finally has some answers!
Lastly- I spoke with a friend of mine who’s symptoms very closely matched mine and after years of doctors, chiropractor, accupuncturists, etc – she finally went to a hormone Dr. who did the saliva adrenal test (which I did in FL and am waiting results) and found out that her testosterone was depleted and other hormones as well… she went on supplements and is since feeling much better…. so I also made an appt with a hormone DR. here in MN to go over my adrenal test results and see if it is a hormone issue resulting after pregnancy which I really think it might be….
Needless to say… I am trying everything in hopes that SOMETHING works…… stay tuned!!
Running wise- I am trying to stay on a schedule but it has been a crazy week and I have been exhausted from whatever it is that I am fighting…. but I have gotten a few good runs in and am hoping to bang out a 11 mile one tomorrow. I race in Snoqualmie, WA next saturday – right outside of Seattle…. I am excited and nervous! Will let you know how it goes!

Hi Alisha! I hope you get the answerrs and the relief you are looking for soon! I look forward to seeing you guys the week of July 4th!
Glad you are starting to get some answers, hopefully you get the rest of your answers soon. I make a killer DF Chicken and wild rice soup, (and DF fudge and caramel if you need some sweets). I am not a huge runner (extremely bad knees from old sports injuries), but my 9 year old son wants to run in the Fifteens 5K, so we are starting slow and working on training together. He figured a 5K was only about 13 times around his track at school, so he could do that
Hopefully he won’t leave me in the dust.
Suzy I would LOVE the recipes…. email them to fifteens5k@gmail.com
thanks!
