The one where I shed tears….almost…

Not bad tears or hurt tears… but tears of amazement….. at all the beautiful things that God created. But I guess I should start at the beginning….

We went out to Seattle to see Glen and had a great time… minus all the rain…. it truly is a beautiful, beautiful place. While out there I went to Snoqualmie, WA- about 30 mins outside of Seattle and ran the Cinco De Mayo Half Marathon. I was not quite sure what to expect from both the race and my body…. but I was more than pleasantly surprised with both! First- the course…. AMAZING!! Far and away the most beautiful run I have ever done. Flat, gorgeous, small group, cloudy, no wind, 45 degrees … perfect!!! There was a point in time when I was running through what they call “God’s Country” which is lined with spruce trees and in front of me was the mountains, to my right was a babbling river, and to my left was a large field with horses running…. truly almost brought me to tears… and I am not a person who cries. It was such an amazing feeling to be running through some of God’s greatest creations. Took my breath away!! The picture attached was actually taken out on the course we ran on…. a small glimpse into what we saw. I told Glen that I may go back next year just to run it again- it moved me.

Then to top it off- I felt great… It has been a struggle to get back after taking time off with the toe injury and the constant sickness but this race made me feel like I was back! I was nervous at the start because it was my first time running a race without pacers which meant I would be on my own to try to stay on pace…. and actually this worked out better than I could of ever imagined. I felt amazing and rarely looked down at my watch- just listened to my body and it felt great! I try to listen to my body and  go by the saying “don’t be a blind and deaf tenant” but this was the first race that I did it and it was kind of an out of body experience! This was also the first race that I didn’t listen to music- instead I listened to a book on tape and it kept my mind aloof and worked great. I know it sounds weird but it really worked wonders for me! Anyways- I finished in 1:48 which I was really excited about after all my setbacks. My next race is with my cousin at Grandmas Half in Duluth-which I have not been to in like 20 years so it should be fun!!

My second sinus surgery is Friday- please send lots of prayers my way that it takes this time and cures all these sinus aliments! Also- for those of you wondering I have been doing great off dairy and the NUCCA chiropractor is amazing- I honestly feel better and am excited to see more and more progress!!

Distance: Today was just 4 miles: 33 mins

Song: Watched “Parenthood” on the treadmill
