The one with the books on tape…. yes I am serious…

After a whirlwind few days…. 1340 miles… 3 cities…. 5 people…. and one car…. we are home… for 4 days anyways. :) My parents and I embarked on quite the adventure with my two little ones… we drove from MN to KC- stayed for 3 days- then KC to Chicago for 3 days- then Chicago to Wisconsin Dells for 2 days- then Wisconsin Dells back to MN! Was a lot of fun and in about a week we will all be talking to each other again :) … jk… our secret though…. shhhh….. we listened to the Steve Jobs Biography on tape the whole time. It lasted us the whole 15 hours! It was a great read- HIGHLY recommend it!

One of my favorite things about the trip was the stop in Chicago- not only is it an amazing city but it also is home to one of my VERY favorite places to run! You can run right between the city and Lake Michigan for many miles- it is truly peaceful and beautiful! I am hoping to run their 13.1 half marathon there next summer because it is ran all along that path!

Even though it was hot as balls in KC I did manage to sneak in a run or two…. on one of the runs I went 9 miles (in 90 degrees) and listened to Scott Jureks book “Eat and Run”- it is a very interesting book about a man I find very fascinating. Ultramarathoners are CRAZY to me and what they put their bodies through I find so inspiring!! Yet- another book I recommend.

Also y’all~ we are less than two weeks out from our Fifteens 5k…. and if you have not signed up yet-  you need too! It is going to be an amazing run filled with player appearances, mascots, cheerleaders, TONS of signed items given away, and amazing PRIZES for the race winners and top fundraiser…. oh and did I mention that it is only $30 now… what are you waiting for???

I get asked from a lot of you to share my playlist that I run to….. to be honest I think it is kind of personal because it divulges my dorky side but I will bare it all in the next posting :) …. all I ask in return is for a few running song suggestions from you all…. ok? deal?

I am heading back to watch the Olympics….. LOVE this time of year!

Distance: 11 miles yesterday on treadmill~ finished season 3 of Parenthood…. need new show suggestions asap!

The one where I put a little color back into my life….

Hello all….  time for an update….

Last weekend I went with an amazing friend to do The Color Run MN…. for those who do not know what it is- you run ( or walk- there was a lot of walkers) a 5K and at each K there are people throwing colored starch on you…..sounds weird but it is a lot of fun! The only rule is that you have to come to the starting line with a white shirt… and by the end it is anything but white! :) I highly recommend it- we will be back next year with our kiddos in tow…. there were lots of kids there and ours would of loved it! The amazing part to me was that they had over 19,000 runners (or walkers) come to the race…. listen people- if all we have to do to get enrollment up for Fifteens 5k is throw some stuff at you- that could be arranged… :)

In other running news…. I have not been running as frequently due to the yeast cleansing but am still hanging in there… I pulled out 9 miles around Calhoun the other day… I forgot how much I love that course~ will be back there soon! Going to run hills tomorrow…. a beast of a hill… mainly because I looked at the course for the Nike Womens Half Marathon out in SF that I am doing for Leukemia and our good friend T.O. and to say there are a few hills in it would be an understatement…. I need to get my booty used to CRAZY hills!!

The cleansing is going well… I have been getting colonics once a week and for the most part only eating chicken, beans, meat, spinach, cucumbers, carrots, avocado, broccoli, air popped popcorn, green tea, and a few other things. Other than a few slip ups with bread I have stayed pretty true to course… and to be honest I don’t crave sugar at all anymore… it is the WEIRDEST thing! In the beginning I never thought that would happen and yet here I am. I am done with the first 15 days and still have another 17 to go…. then I can slowly re-introduce some fruits, etc. I am feeling pretty good. I have had a few days of die off and the days that I do slip up I feel it immediately which is crazy to me as well! But in general- it has been tough but so far seems to be good… will let you know…

Run: Hills tomorrow… :(
